Nas Reveals His Feelings About Mobb Deep & 50 Cent

King Magazine recently released some lost excerpts of their interview with Nas. While most of it had to do with Nas discussing his early years in Hip Hop, one question and accusation proved to be a bit eyebrow raising.

"I ran into Prodigy last week and asked him, 'What should I ask Nas?' He said, 'Ask him, ‘What happened backstage at the Central Park show in 2004,’” Thomas Golianopoulos inquired.

“Man, that was some classic Mobb Deep shit. They was rumbling,” Nas replied regarding a fight that took place backstage between Mobb Deep and others. But Prodigy thinks that those involved were Nas’ people.

“He thinks you set him up,” Golianopoulos responded.

Nas went on to discuss his relationship with Prodigy and addressed the situation.

“I did hear that. Nah, I would never do that to him,” Nas retorted. “We had our differences, which was really just hyped up bullshit. I wish everything for Prodigy. They caught a lot of bad breaks. I just wish the best for him. I wish he didn’t have to do this time. And I would love to see them come back again. I would be the first person in the record store buying a Mobb album. I want to see them give it to us however many more times.”

Nas also revealed how he felt about Mobb Deep joining G-Unit.

“I was really happy to see 50 embrace them. I thought that was G because that’s something that doesn’t happen from the higher ups. All these big companies, they don’t care about us. They don’t care about the talented ones that aren’t given a fair shot and I thought it was a good move on 50’s part to give them a deal.”

Nas' Untitled drops July 15th.

Nas And DJ Green Lantern Take Mixtape One Step Further

Nas has had an interesting way of promoting his latest Untitled album. After being pretty much forced to change the title of his new LP to Untitled, Esco named his mixtape The Nigger Tape (Download Here). Now, the album is almost near its release date and the mixtape is going to set that up for him even more. Along with The Evil Genius Green Lantern, Nas is putting together quite a lot for the tape.

"This shit is gonna have the streets right and have the streets ready for the album."

Some of the tracks have unreleased Nas vocals that Lantern used to create brand new songs. This led to some inspiration as Nas heard the beats and wanted to create new verses around those beats.

"I was like, 'Let me get some exclusives. I wanna make a movie,' " Green told MTV recently.

"We went to the studio, and this man's work speaks for itself," Nas noted. "He gave me some of the joints. Some of the joints sounded like they were right for the album. I had to snatch them for the album. We really getting it done. It's coming out right."

Aside from the mixtape, Lantern also got some work on the Untitled album. "Black President," a highly anticipated joint is on there, and so is "Like Me."

"There's another one called 'Like Me.' It was supposed to be for the mixtape. He gave me acappellas that wasn't out yet. I made a song around it. New beat, had somebody come and make a hook. It's like some pimp shit. Nas loved it. He put another verse on it and said, 'I need it for my album. Don't put it on the mixtape.' When they did the final cut of the album, 'Like Me' got cut, but it's on the international release and the iTunes and Amazon.com exclusive."

The official Untitled album is set to be released next month, July 15.

Nas Announces July 15 Release Date For N***er

Nas has officially announced the release date of his new controversial untitled album, which was formerly titled N***er.

The album, which will be released through Nas’ boutique label Jones Experience, has been delayed several times, will land in stores on July 15.

Although the rapper changed the title of his controversial 9th album, he promised fans to expect the same message contained on the untitled release.

“It’s important to me that this album gets to the fans,” Nas said. “It’s been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It’s that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.”

The first official single being released from the album is “Hero,” which was produced by Polow Da Don.

Nas addresses a number of subjects on the album, including the presidential hopeful Barak Obama, the N-word itself and even the food fried chicken, a track produced by Grammy Award winning producer.

The track also features an appearance by Busta Rhymes and The Daptones, known for their groundbreaking work with Amy Winehouse, The Roots and others.

“When I was young, sitting in my room hammering out beats on my MPC, Nas was one of those truly legendary artists that you daydream, ‘One day, I'll get to do a track for...,’” Ronson said. “We finally met Grammy night in LA, and he said he wanted some stuff from me for the album. I started thinking to myself, as a Nas fan, ‘What kind of beats would I love to hear him over?’ That's how the Dapkings and I came up with the track for ‘Fried Chicken’, and I reckon it sounds like a stone cold classic.”

Other producers rounding out the album include Stic.Man from Dead Prez, Stargate, Cool & Dre, Mark Ronson and others.

Nas Discusses Racism & Barack Obama

Nas is readying his latest LP and the legendary emcee is also being his regular outspoken self. Recently, he spoke out on racism and how it affects him and how it may affect Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

"I get reminders," Nas recently said in an interview with MTV. "I see a lot of people get reminders all the time. But the president of the United States? I don't know. He can expect that everything that can happen, will happen. But he's a lot more powerful than Nasir Jones in a lot of ways. I think he'll be all right. People like me, we're gonna deal with [racism]. There's a lot of ignorance in the world. Look at the human family. We've been able to design iPods and so-called go the Moon. Yet, we can't get over racial difference and colors of skin. That's gotta go."

"If Barack becomes the president, it doesn't matter who looks at him as a n---er at that point...Everybody gotta go through scrutiny, criticism by crazy people. They will criticize your child. They talked about the Clintons' daughter, and they talked about this one and that one. You gotta be able to take the high road on everybody. I think Obama is perfect for taking the high road. He's prepared. He's a black man. Him taking the high road is him taking the country on a high road. I think it's gonna benefit everybody in America with that guy in office. Let's hope it happens. Let's hope it's no funny business with that guy in office. Let's hope for the best," Nas continued.

For years, he was not interested in the political game but now Nas is giving Obama credit for bringing that interest back.

"It got me interested...I think in about 10 more years from today, you're gonna have more politicians who grew up listening to Illmatic that are ... MCs! That are rappers. You're gonna start seeing more rappers evolve into politicians. If we have a change this year and it's a positive thing, we trusting the system now. We believe in it more. We see something positive coming out of it that makes us want to get involved more. Five or 10 years from now, you might see somebody like me trust it more. Who knows? I won't say for sure."

"I don't know what I'm doing as far as the vote this year," he noted. "I'm excited about it, I just don't know what I'm doing. I'm still trying to figure out the next few months of my own life. My own politics. I'm the president of Nas World. That's a busy job already. To get out and vote? I gotta see."

Nas is readying the release of The N---er Mixtape with DJ Green Lantern and finishing up his latest untitled album.

Nas Unveils "Be A Nigger Too" Video Last Night To Press

Amidst all of the controversy that Nas has amassed with his controversial and ever-changing Nigger/Nasir campaign, you would expect the Queens-bred lyricist to fall back after his latest incident of having to change the name of his much-anticipated album from Nigger to reportedly titled Nasir effort

But Nas has never been the type to follow the same stream of thought as others and last night (May 29th) at the Tribeca Grand Hotel, a private screening was held for “Be A Nigger Too” for invited audiences. Directed by Rik Cordero – whose videos for Consequence, The Roots and Jay-Z have garnered widespread attention – stayed true to his guerilla film style.

“I thought it would be just the cast and crew who came,” Nancy Mitchell, assistant director, said exclusively to HipHopDX. The video which depicted a hanging, had a child holding an uzi and showcased a mixed bag of races all to be “niggers” too proved its point in being controversial. These images play while Nas raps to a mirror, a style reminiscent of his "One Mic" video several years ago.

“Nas’ album is very important to him and this first visual off the album proved its point,” Cordero began. “The easy answer would have been to just compile a bunch of stock footage of people, of slave, of any racial prejudices and just stick it in the video and have Nas rap in front of a green screen.”

As of press time, 3/21 Films is still waiting on word from Def Jam as to when and if the video will be shipped out to run on the major networks.

Nas attended the screening for approximately 10 minutes, before exiting.
