Black Eyed Peas Plan Earthquake Benefit Concert

The Black Eyed Peas are hoping to raise awareness and money for Chinese citizens impacted by the May 12 earthquake that has left over 70,000 dead and many more injured. The Peas will perform at in invitation-only event in Shanghai, China with all proceeds from the show going to the Chinese Red Cross. While no official date has been given, the concert will mark the first time a non-classical music performance has been held at the Shanghai Concert Hall. The liquor manufacturing company Chivas Brothers will sponsor the performance in conjunction with Pernod Ricard China.

"We will invite our VIP guests, main customers in China, along with media to the concert," Chivas Brothers' communications director Vanessa Wright tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Around 700 people will attend."

Their upcoming performance will be the second time in roughly two years that the multi-platinum group has played Shanghai. Representatives from Chivas also add that the concert will be broadcast on an unspecified national Chinese television station as well as regional channels at a later date.
